Champagne & Burgundy (9 days) June 15-23, 2024 Plus optional extension to Rhone Valley June 23-27 We meet in Paris and head to Reims, principal city of the Champagne Region where we'll visit and taste at historic Champagne houses.. We'll see cellars with chalky limestone soil and understand how this creates fabulous Champagnes. Small farmers are still king in the mythical vineyards of Burgundy, where the world's most exalted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grow. Walk the tiny lane between the vines of Romanee Conti and Richebourg. Stroll the beautiful streets of the ancient walled town of Beaune. Enjoy world-class French cuisine and meet winemakers whose families have been growing grapes here for over 500 years. We offer an optional 5-day extension to follow the majestic Rhone river on its journey south past Beaujolais, the grape-lined hills of Cote Rotie and Hermitage to Chateauneuf du Pape and Avignon, where we visit great vineyards and the home of popes in the 1300s.
This memorable journey to France is led by wine educator Charles Bennett, who has guided this trip and many like it over the past decade in Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Chile, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. Click to request more information
